Join the effort to preserve toads during breeding season on the Isle of Wight

Can you help to save a toad’s life? Each year 250,000 toads are killed on British roads trying to return to where they themselves were born in order to breed.

This has caused a dramatic decline in the UK toad population.

Toad crossings
You can help reverse this by helping a toad across a road. There are a number of unmanned toad crossings on the Island and any time you can spare would be appreciated.

Check the Frog Life website to add a crossing or offer to help patrol one of the eight already registered on the Isle of Wight.

The website also has lots of information and resources for anyone wanting to know more about toads.

Thanks to Paul White for the heads up about the Toads on Roads scheme.
