If you live in Ventnor or Wroxall you might have been wondering why the Police helicopter was circling for around an hour last night (Wednesday).
Isle of Wight Police were involved in a joint operation between and South Wight NPT, Dog Section, Wightsar (Search and Rescue), NPAS (Police helicopter) and the Ambulance service.
Missing person
The teams were attending the report of a missing person and as Sgt Radford explained on the Isle of Wight Police Facebook page, due to the circumstances, the missing person was graded as high risk.
Sgt Radford explained,
“The light was fading and the location in Ventnor was difficult. Officers and WightSAR spent a few hours searching fields and the surrounding area.
“Thankfully the person was located, but they were injured and needed medical treatment and were taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
Shout out to WightSAR
Sgt Radford added,
“A big shout out to WightSAR who are all volunteers and without them it would have been very challenging.”
