High praise from CQC for ‘Outstanding’ Isle of Wight home care company

Home Instead Isle of Wight is delighted to have received an overall Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during its first comprehensive inspection since opening in 2019.

The rating of Outstanding is only awarded to the highest quality services, around three per cent of providers nationally are given the title.

Caregivers at the home care company were described in the report as ‘wonderful’ and ‘extremely kind’ by clients and their families. The CQC praised the company’s care and management teams based on feedback from clients, their families or representatives and external health professionals.

Going the extra mile is part of everyday service
The report highlighted how there was a strong, visible person-centred culture and described how going the extra mile is part of everyday service and not a rare favour.

Feedback from people using the service was that they saw a small group of regular staff which they appreciated. A family member commented,

“I am continually amazed by what good hearts your people [caregivers] have – if only the rest of humanity could be more like that.”

Felt truly respected and valued
People supported by the service felt truly respected and valued as individuals whilst being empowered to be partners in their care by an exceptional and distinctive service, the report went on to add.

Home Instead Isle of Wight’s management team were also recognised for outstanding support and an external health professional shared,

“I can state that if/when a family member of mine needs care and support at home, I would most definitely recommend and approach Home Instead for that support.”

Family members echoed these views by saying,

“The manager is very good she looks after the company well.

“She is friendly and approachable, so are the office staff, they are excellent too.”

Oswald: Important to treat our caregivers as social care professionals
Dee Oswald, Owner of Home Instead Isle of Wight said,

“To achieve an Outstanding rating is an absolute honour. Our caregivers and office team have been delivering a high-quality service since pre-pandemic, but also maintained those standards for our wonderful clients throughout Covid-19.

“It is important to us to treat our caregivers as the social care professionals they are and with this in mind, we are thankful to have a low turnover of staff, ensuring our clients have familiar faces, but also our caregivers are happy and content within their roles.”
