Hillside: 18th Top UK Hotel Say TripAdvisor Critics

We heard on IW Radio news this morning that one of our favourite places on the Island has received a massive nod from travelling Europeans too.

Hillside HotelIn the latest top ‘this and that’ list on Trip Advisor, travellers have voted Hillside Ventnor 18th in the Top 25 Hotels in the United Kingdom chosen by Europeans.

Hillside, which sits neatly above the tennis courts on the way into Ventnor, is a fabulous hotel that has been renovated to a very high standard.

Its restaurant is open to the public (you need to book in advance rather than just turn up) and last time we feasted there, we were given a tour of the hotel by owners Gert and Anna. It certainly impressed.

According to TripAdvisor Website, the hotel has 91 reviews, 84 of which rate it as ‘Excellent’.

Check out Hillside Website for more details about the hotel.

If you’re interested in the other 24 hotels you can find the list on TripAdvisor Website.

Hillside, 151 Mitchell Avenue, Ventnor PO38 1DR

Shouldn’t it have been the responsibility of the Chairman of the Council to speak with Cllr Churchman NOT the Leader of the Council writing to her, as Cllr Churchman is not a member of the ruling group.

It would appear that this councillor did not follow the rules, or at least that is what the (non-party) panel decided, and that has brought the Council into disrepute. Are you saying that because she is in a different party to the leader he should do nothing about it? We keep… Read more »

Wendy, probably so but the Chair of the Council has no effective power, never has had but particularly under the current arrangements

I think the point here is that Cllr Pugh seems more concerned with settling old scores than with due process. As Wendy says, it’s for the Chairman to draw the issue of resignation to the attention of Cllr Churchman. Cllr Pugh, I suspect, will urge his group tonight to vote against Cllr Churchman. I’m not a huge fan of David Pugh, nor do I like the tone of his email. But, I think she has no choice but to resign. How can you be Chairman of the council’s scrutiny committee, when you yourself been found in breach of the code of conduct rules for councillors? Some people will see this as ‘settling old scores’, (I’d guess these two don’t run… Read more »

I just saw this on the ‘two years ago’ section of VB.

So much has happened in two years. This certainly made my eyebrows rise.
