Hillside, Ventnor to close: Open House invitation (updated)

Hillside, Ventnor is to close.

The hotel, that sits above the courts of the Ventnor Tennis club, has been on the market for a while, but, News OnTheWight learned, it’s not being sold as a going concern. Instead, the property will pass into the hands of another owner.

The hotel picked up many awards and complimentary press articles over the years, as it was finished to the very highest quality by its owner, Gert Bach. Over the years Gert developed the buildings and grounds to include grazing goats and bee hives.

The lower section of the land has a kitchen garden, growing vegetables.

Gert left a message saying

“A big thanks and humble gratefulness goes to the many guests and returning visitors, craftsmen, suppliers and not least team members who have made the last 15+ years an interesting journey to remember.”

Gert himself is off to pursue new ventures.

It will be a loss for Ventnor, given it was such high quality.
