Many of our readers will already be aware that a new Ikea store is due to open in Southampton next year.
This offers a great opportunity for those on living on the Isle of Wight who may be looking for a new career as there are at least 400 jobs up for grabs.
In their final stage of recruitment, at the end of this week they will be holding a ‘Job Fayre’ in Southampton and are inviting the public along.
They’ve already have recruited their 100-strong management and supervising team, which goes some way to showing how big the store will be.
The IKEA Job Fayre takes place on Friday, between 10am to 8pm and then again on Saturday from 10am to the earlier finish time of 6pm. All you have to do is find your way to IKEA’s office in Dock Gate 10 – Atlantic House, Herbert Walker Avenue. Easy peasy.
Sarah Claydon, IKEA’s HR manager, explained:
“Having recruited some fantastic managers and supervisors we are now seeking motivated, responsible and enthusiastic co-workers with good communication skills and from a cross-section of the community. They will be filling roles in sales, food services, logistics, customer services, security, environment and administration.
“Teamwork is at the heart of IKEA and we pride ourselves on being one of the most progressive employers in the world. It really is one huge family – and a unique place to work. We place huge emphasis on flexibility and understand the need for a genuine work/life balance.”
“We also have a very strong focus on both personal and professional business development and will be offering our new co-workers the opportunity to make a difference in shaping the new Southampton store.”
The new store will be opening in spring next year (on the former Pirelli site). Ikea inform us that it will stock 9,200 articles across four floors and have a 600-seater restaurant and on-site warehouse.
