Unite the Isle of Wight are holding a public meeting at Quay Arts tonight to discuss the imminent cuts to discretionary services by the Isle of Wight council.
The council will be setting the 2016/17 budget on 24th February and due to a reduction in funding from the Government, will have to make £16.753 million of budget cuts to Isle of Wight services in the coming year.
Many of the cuts were already agreed during last year’s budget meeting and then again later in the year, but the council will still need to decide by 24th February where they make around £3.3m of cuts to services.
Tonight’s public meeting, being held at Quay Arts between 7-9pm brings an opportunity to discuss the many issues around the cuts and what the group’s next steps will be.
The meeting will be chaired by Geoff Mason.
