Saturday saw much buzz and excitement at Quay Arts as the shortlisted films for the IOW Short Film Festival were screened.
Throughout the day short films were showing in the Anthony Minghella Theatre and the evening saw the prize-giving.
Chairman of Screen South and Film & Television Producer, Graham Benson had the honour of handing out the prizes for the following categories; Best Drama, Best Documentary, Best Under 19’s Documentary, Best Under 19’s.
The judging panel included Christine Benson (producer/director), Peter Chadwick (production/location manager), Keith Dewhurst (writer), Alexandra Cann (literary agent) and Christopher Russell (writer).
After much deliberation, they awarded prizes to the following:
Best under 19 Documentary
Bryony Young, for “Carnival Explosion”
Best Documentary
Robin Whitehead & Graham Pountney, for “Eyecatcher”
Best Drama
Nicola Mills, for “Toughest Girl in the World”
Judges Special Award
Jamie Williams, for “Cowes Week Fireworks”
Well done to everyone involved, especially Bruce Webb and Eric Lawson for organising the festival – it has undoubtedly inspired a great many people to get out there filming.
