Money:

Island Independents appeal for donations

This in from the Island Independents, in their own words. Ed

Island Independents are calling on people who support the Independent cause, to please come forward and provide financial assistance.

Donations of less than £50 can be made anonymously but larger donations need to be declared.

Offers of help and financial assistance should be emailed to chriswelsford@ayrespunchard.co.uk who will deal with donations on an individual basis.

The group’s coordinator, Ian Stephens said:

“Unlike the Political Parties, we have no support infrastructure. Whilst we have all contributed time and money to the campaign, there is no financial support available to help those members who are struggling to meet the cost of printing leaflets and advertising. Any help that could be offered by the many people who have expressed their desire to see an Independent majority after May 2nd, would be very much appreciated.”

Hmmmm posted up all evening and no comments…we see tons of people here bigging up the Independents and flying their flag, but when it comes down to it seems pockets are a bit shallow. I’ll make a small donation to an Independent Group candidate not standing against a Labour candidate .

Funnily enough, no.5, people will be responding by arranging to send money to them, not shouting about it here for your sarky benefit! I’m sure your further publicity will assist that aim. Are you a party candidate?

Ah, I thought I had read something to that effect. Although he is a candidate and has a vested interest in spreading misinformation and propaganda to try to undermine other candidates, looks like he doesn’t have to declare this in his posts. Up to us to do so then!

Your sarky remark at the head of this thread, for a start! Denigrating Indie supporters by as good as saying they are all mouth and not prepared to be financially supportive when it matters. In my book that’s misinformation about Island Indie supporters and is aimed at reducing confidence in readers that there is any real support for Indies.

ah…so its just your opinion..well YOU mis-understood my post and my intention. We need the Independents to be successful across the Island to counter the Tory overall majority. I don’t question the integrity and desire for change in any ‘Independent Group’ member and hope they do really well. Labour candidates have very limited funds available and I fully understand the plight of Independents without any party support… Read more »

‘Sarky’ is accurate! Whereas the implication you made about Island Indie support is denigrating, because it is not based on reasoning. I see you haven’t addressed that.

It is also denigrating to say that an opinion is “just your opinion”. If you are finding people are misunderstanding you, no. 5, best look at how you’re communicating.

I shall try to send something in due course.. But could Labour candidates stop this ridiculous Indy bashing that they seem to favour this time!!!! I have met a labour candidate who simply slagged of everything the independents want to do without actually telling me what Labour want to do! Dirty politics is the new labour way of working, but it doesn’t suit local elections so just… Read more »

Who is Indy bashing…I hope they do very well. I question their chosen branding and non party direction based on the confusion it causes, but that is their choice. I have spent this entire campaign telling people what I will hope to achieve, in comparison to my competitors who brag about what they have already achieved (despite the evidense) I have no ‘Independent Group’ opposition I made… Read more »

There are many independent group supporters who are and will offer financial backing without seeking publicity for their actions. Typical party political mud slinging again!

I found a way of making mine anonymously. Quite a funny story, actually, but it would be a bit embarassing vis a vis being OTW, to reveal details!
