Island Photographer Captures Early Moments of Bank Repossession

Islander Jenny Lynn Walker was able to provide one of the first images from the occupation of the UBS building in Sun Street, Hackney over the weekend.

Occupiers on the roofThe former offices, which includes a 500 seat lecture hall, have been taken over by protesters from the Occupy movement and intended to be used as a meeting place, renamed the Bank of Ideas.

They say, “It has been opened to the public for the non-monetary trade of ideas to help solve the pressing economic, social and environmental problems of our time.”

A series of workshops and lectures have been organised with an Emeritus Professor from School of Oriental and African Studies giving one of the first lectures at the weekend.

Members from the Isle of Wight Occupy movement made a visit to the Occupy London at the weekend giving a speech on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral about how things are progressing on the Island.
