One of the main roads in and out of Ventnor was closed earlier today after a large void was discovered under the road.
The void has now been filled on Newport Road, but this afternoon (Friday), temporary traffic lights were in place as Island Roads’ operatives worked to provide a remedy.
Monitoring the situation
The void has been filled and the road has now been reopened (Friday afternoon).
However, Island Roads say they will continue monitoring the situation.
It was only a few months ago (November 2022) when safety work was carried out on the road near The Graben.
