Residents are being advised by Island Roads of two road improvement projects that will take place next week.
Stroudwood Road on the outskirts of Ryde and Drill Hall Road in Newport are both being improved by Island Roads starting on Monday (11th Dec 2023).
24-hour road closures
Both schemes involve deep excavations and strengthening of the highway foundations to address issues that have lead to deterioration in the road surface. As a result, 24-hour road closures will be required at both locations for the duration of the work although access to premises will be maintained if it is safe to do so.
The work in Stroudwood Road is expected to last five days, and the work in Drill Hall Road up to eight days. Residents in both locations have received letters outlining the work and the effects it will have on access.
IR: It won’t be possible to re-open the roads again at the end of each shift
An Island Roads spokesperson said,
“The work at both locations involves us having to excavate at depth so unfortunately it won’t be possible to re-open the roads again at the end of each shift.
“This work is however designed to reduce the need for future road repair.
“We would like to thank residents in advance for their co-operation and understanding.”
