This is possibility going to cause a bit of a shock – I had a really good experience with a traffic warden today in Ventnor.
I’d been up at St Catherine’s School, for their fete (more on that shortly) and had been unable to park in the Marlborough Road car park.
Luckily I’d found a place in the 30 minute bays in the High Street and on my way back from the school was thinking that I might have been close to the time limit for the parking.
My heart dropped when I saw the traffic warden issuing a ticket to the car on the end, not knowing if mine had already receive similar attention.
A quick glance through the back window showed that I was in the clear. Phew.
Seeing a friend along the pavement, I stopped for a chat.
As the traffic warden walked past I asked her if my car was over the limit. Very pleasantly she said she hadn’t got to it yet, so didn’t know.
I asked that if I was, if she’d give me a wave so I’d know to move it.
A couple of mins later, she gestured to me and I wandered over to drive off.
Proof positive that 1) they’re human; 2) they’re not that bad; 3) perhaps it not all about the money.
