The Isle of Wight is facing a battering from the wind and heavy as another storm passes by.
Cross-Solent ferry services have been disrupted and a huge number of roads across the Island are closed due to flooding or only just about passable.

Surface water problems
The photo above shows a drain in Wellow that was fitted in December 2013 as part of an Island Roads resurfacing scheme.
As you can see, it’s raised above the level of the road and therefore results in water being regularly left on the road when it rains. The studio on the right has had to put barricades up to protect the wall from surface water which gets splashed onto it when vehicles pass.
