Some exciting news in from Vectis Radio, in their own words. Ed
A local radio station is looking for fresh music talent from Island high schools.
Vectis Radio, the not-for-profit internet station, is scouring Schools across the Isle of Wight in a hunt for the best up-and-coming DJ in each School.
The winner will host a new radio show and promote their music and other School activities.
Fantastic opportunity
“This is a great opportunity for young people to demonstrate their talent,” says Steve Ray, Vectis Radio managing director. “We are a community radio station and we want a winner, and a new show, from every High School on the Isle of Wight.”
Each contestant has to produce a 15 minute feature that highlights their broadcasting skills and music from their school. Vectis Radio’s listeners will vote for their favourite productions. The top entries will go forward to a final round to decide a school’s top three DJs
The first School to take part is Sandown High.
Rob Da Bank to judge entries
The final entries will be listened to by top RADIO 1 DJ and BESTIVAL promoter ROB DA BANK who will make the final choice.
“My role as a broadcaster on BBC Radio 1 is possibly the best job in the world, and I am very proud and privileged to be on the station. I am always looking to help nurture new talent whether its bands or broadcasters, so very excited to hear what the Isle of Wight has to offer with this competition.”
