Isle of Wight band, Coach Party, played to a stadium of almost 100,000 music lovers on Saturday night in France.
The four-piece band were supporting French pop, rock and new wave band, Indochine.
Mind-blowing
Coach Party, which features Jess on vocals and bass, Steph and Joe on guitars and Guy on drums, played to a 600-strong audience last week, which seemed like a crazy number, so last night’s 97,000-strong audience must have blown the band’s minds.
Part of history
The band told News OnTheWight,
“We played the gig of a lifetime with France’s own ‘Indochine’ – who are amazing on record and absolutely phenomenal live.
“It was the highest attendance at any event in that stadium ever (97,036 tickets), so it kind of feels like we’re part of history over there now!
“We’re so lucky and incredibly grateful that Nicola (frontman of Indochine) asked us to support having been a fan of ours for a while; was absolutely no hesitation our end accepting the offer.”
Our thanks to Martyna “gingerdope” Bannister for use of their superb shots from the stage.
Building their fan base
Coach Party signed to Chess Club record label in 2019 and were tipped by The Guardian as ‘one to watch’ back in the first Lockdown.
They’ve released a number of singles and EPs, with a third EP on the way this summer. The band have been steadily building their fan base over the last year with countless gigs around the country.
Last week Jess appeared on Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 6 Music show to review the latest releases with Gus from Alt-J and comedian Rob Deering (listen again).
