Congratulations are in order for the oldest Isle of Wight brewery, Goddards, and one of the Island’s newest microbrewers, Boojum and Snark.
They have picked up four Silver Awards at the 2023 London Beer Competition.
Fighting off stiff competition from around the world, Goddards won Silver for Duck’s Folly, their own beer, as well as three Silvers for beers brewed in collaboration with Sandown’s very own Boojum&Snark: Namely RipTide Red Ale, Barista Breakfast Stout and South Island Pale Ale.
Julie Jones-Evans from Boojum&Snark told News OnTheWight,
“To say we are delighted is an understatement, having a panel of beer experts judging our beers and giving them Silver at their first outing is such an honour.
“We can’t thank Goddards enough for trusting us new kids on the block and adding the expertise of brewers Josh Davies and Nigel Eldridge taking our recipes to scale as a professional product.”
Bob Simpson, MD at Goddards, told News OnTheWight,
“Four out of four entries coming up with silver is a great showing, having Ducks Folly alongside the Boojum&Snark collaboration craft range, is a great representation of our quality ales we brew and another reason to celebrate at our new brewery.”
Only the highest quality beers
The London Beer Competition looks to recognise, reward and help promote beer brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific beer drinker.
The Competition judge’s assess the entries in three key areas: Their quality; their value for money and what they look like.
Bronze, Silver and Gold awards go to only the highest quality beers.
Cheers to the teams at Boojum and Goddards. Winning Silver for these three new beers pays testament to all the hard work of those collaborating.
