Isle of Wight council leader seeks MPs’ support for review of ferry services

Councillor Phil Jordan, leader of the Isle of Wight council, shares a letter he has sent to both Isle of Wight MPs asking for their support and help to get a Government led review of the Ferry operators serving the Island.

The letter to Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West, and Joe Robertson, MP for Isle of Wight East is embedded below for your convenience.

Jordan: Addressing deteriorating service and spiralling costs
Councillor Jordan told News OnTheWight,

“I have received many, many complaints about what many are calling a deteriorating service and spiralling costs which are affecting the very health and wellbeing of our Island community.

“I am writing to Government directly, as well as engaging with our MPs, to raise the issue of the economic, community and cultural plight we are facing, asking Government to take a specific review of the cross-Solent operators, especially their financial structuring, which appears to reduce the overall investments in the operating companies and impacts their levels of service and costs negatively.”

Working together
Both MPs have pledged to represent Islanders in calling for fairer pricing and improved ferries services on Wightlink and Red Funnel.

They issued a joint press release at the end of July, demonstrating their willingness to work together for the benefit of the Island.
