The Isle of Wight has been receiving some fantastic media coverage recently.
Top spots for Conde Nast Travellers
Juliet Kinsman from Conde Nast Traveller recently made a trip to the Isle of Wight and shares her experience in a fabulous five-page spread in the latest edition.
Juliet fell in love with the Island and all it has to offer. Striking a particular chord were the Ventnor delights of the Ventnor Haven Fishery, Hillside, The Royal and Steephill Cove.
Juliet explored the whole Island, picking out the likes of The Little Gloster, The George, Vintage Vacations, Tom’s Eco Lodge, The Taverner’s, Briddlesford Lodge Farm and The Piano Cafe as places visitors must visit.
Foodie treats
Clearly a fan of good food, Juliet was also excited to hear of Michelin star chef Robert Thompson’s latest venture, due to open shortly in Newport.
During her trip, we introduced Juliet to Seapot, the once public toilet, now transformed to a wonderful seaside cafe, the perfect pitstop if you’re walking between Ventnor and Bonchurch.

So impressed with the location and service, it became Juliet’s new favourite Ventnor cafe.
Coast Magazine: “Truly outstanding” restaurants
The wonderful coverage doesn’t end there. The July issue of Coast magazine has a great five-page spread after writer, Alex Fisher, spent the weekend in Ventnor.
Accurately describing the town as enjoying a renaissance, Alex also notes the “truly outstanding” restaurants and hotels that are in her words, are “well worth a visit”.
Highlights of Alex’s weekend include taking the kids to Blackgang Chine, dining at Hillside, taking a Sea Safari with Ocean Blue, discovering Ventnor Haven Fishery, The Boatbouse at Steephill Cove, a treatment at The Crow’s Nest and of course, a visit to the Royal Hotel.
Telegraph: Seventh best hidden beach in the UK
Earlier this month the Isle of Wight was also featured on The Telegraph’s ’20 best hidden beaches in the UK’ list.
The wonderfully seductive Steephill Cove (also a favourite with Alex and Juliet) is ranked number seven on the list.
7. Steephill Cove, Isle of Wight
The beach at Steephill Cove, just south of Ventnor, can be reached only by foot (most easily via the coastal path from Ventnor or the Botanic Gardens). This little bay of cheerful beach huts, deck chairs and rock pools is backed by cottage gardens and bathed in Mediterranean-style light. Winter storms have washed away most of the sand, so it’s now shingle, but no less charming for that.
