Isle of Wight Distribution team raise £1,882 for Mountbatten

The team at Isle of Wight Distribution have raised £1,882 for Mountbatten, with their efforts hailed as a “true community effort”.

Taking part in “Go Yellow Day”, the annual fundraiser held in aid of the Hospice, the 70-strong team at both the Newport, Isle of Wight and Chandlers Ford, Southampton depots donned bright yellow T-shirts, created by leading Island brand Rapanui.

The eye-catching shirts, made from 100 per cent organic cotton, proudly displayed the iconic sunflower motif which symbolises the hospice and were provided free of charge from the Freshwater based clothing brand.

As well as the generous offering from Rapanui, Isle of Wight Distribution also received donations from Pall-Ex Group, Cheeky Chimps Nursery in Ryde and the team at Isle of Wight Tomatoes – who donated a fantastic £250 to the cause.

Hall: A true community effort
Chris Hall, Commercial Director at Isle of Wight Distribution, said,

“This has been a true community effort and has really shown how supportive Island businesses are to one another. Not to mention the kindness of the public who were so encouraging towards our drivers while they were working across the island and Southampton in their Go Yellow t-shirts.

“Mountbatten Hospice is a charity close to many of our hearts, and it is likely that we have all known – or known of – somebody that has benefited from their compassionate and first-class end of life care and bereavement support. To be able to help them in any way we can is a huge honour.”

Go Yellow Day
Go Yellow Day is held annually on 1st October by Mountbatten. Members of the Isle of Wight community are invited to “do something yellow” while raising vital cash for the charity – be it eating only yellow food, hosting a Big Yellow Tea Party or simply wearing something yellow

Mountbatten’s Chief Executive, Nigel Hartley, said,

“Throughout the pandemic, Islanders have shown just how much they value Mountbatten’s care and support with their incredible generosity.

“We could not continue our work without the individuals, organisations, and businesses who get behind us, and we are so grateful to Isle of Wight Distribution, and to our wonderful Island community, for coming together and going Yellow in support of our patients and their families.

“Seeing everyone in their yellow finery is a joy after such a challenging time.”
