An Isle of Wight fashion student, who graduated from Central St Martins, had a fantastic boost this week.
Artist, writer and broadcaster, Sir Grayson Perry CBE RA Hon FRIBA, shared a photo on Instagram of himself wearing clothes designed by Sandown’s Joel Lines.
The outfit, which was created for Grayson in 2021, is made of cool black satin with a variety of different dinosaurs decorating the two-piece.
A great boost
Grayson’s post (he has 185,000 followers) has had almost 10,000 likes, with many people praising Joel for his work. A great boost for Joel.
Readers may remember that OnTheWight has covered news of Joel’s creation in recent years, or you may have even seen at Island carnivals the giant puppet he created of himself for the 2023 BA Fashion Class show at Central St Martins.
Joel comes from creative heritage: his father was the Head of Art at an Island secondary school for many years, whilst his mother is an active artist and maker. The family have been involved with Island carnivals for many years.
Regatta hats
Those taking part in the Regatta Hat Factory project at Boojum and Snark in Sandown may have even worked with Joel as he is involved with the project for a second year.
The Regatta Hat Factory takes place at 105 High Street, Sandown PO36 8AF is open Wednesdays to Sundays 12 midday to 8pm, through to the weekend of Sandown Bay Regatta on 10th and 11th August.
