Isle of Wight Festival of Running begins this weekend with St Helens Duver Dash

The Isle of Wight’s premier running event, the Isle of Wight Festival of Running, starts this Sunday (29th May) with runs for adults and children at St Helens Duver.

The festival, organised by West Wight Sports and Community Centre (WWSCC), is now in its sixth year, and has attracted 510 entries in total.

Other events
The highlight is the Needles Half Marathon on 5th June, which starts and finishes at the centre, taking runners on a rugged route over Tennyson Down.

Also on 5th June is the Freshwater 5K and the Needles Junior Fun Run.

Duver Dash
The Duver Dash on Sunday, hosted by Bembridge Harbour, features a 5km fun run for adults, and a 1km route for children, with a second lap option.

Griffin: Extra special date
Clare Griffin, WWSCC manager, said,

“This year’s festival coincides with the Platinum Jubilee, which makes it extra special.

“We are looking forward to another splendid event and are very pleased to welcome familiar faces and new friends.

“As ever, we are grateful to the marshalls and other volunteers who work behind the scenes, to make the festival possible.”
