Figures for unemployed claimants came out this morning which show that 2,040 people on the Isle of Wight were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in February 2015.
Unemployment Benefit figures released by the Office for National Statistics show a fall of 30 since January, which reported 2,072 JSA claimants, and a fall of 973 from February 2014 (3,013).
That means 2.5% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – 1.2% more than the rest of the South East (1.3%), and 0.5% more than the whole of the UK (2.0 %).
