Thanks to Alan and Suzanne Whitewood for this report on Beacons lit for the Queen’s Jubilee. Ed
Across the Island there were a number of Beacons lit on Monday evening for the Queen’s Jubilee.
Some of these were viewed by the public but some took the form of more private gatherings.
One such was at Osborne House where the Friends of Royal Osborne elected the Island’s Lord Lieutenant Major General Martin White to kindle the flame.
Visit Queen Victoria’s private beach
Later in the Summer, for the first time, Osborne House will host fun and games on Queen Victoria’s private beach.
Visitors will be able to watch Punch and Judy shows throughout the day and take part in traditional Victorian games. This delightful event will be running every day during August.
Photos of other beacons lit around the Island can be found on Diamond Jubilee On The Wight.
