The Evening Standard’s latest recommendation for what music to listen to features not one, but two Isle of Wight acts.
Coach Party and Lauran Hibberd sit on the list alongside the likes of Blur, The Streets, Taylor Swift, Jamie T and Skepta.
Coach Party – What’s The Point In Life
Although the ES refers to them as an Oxford Band, Coach Party are Isle of Wight through and through.
Here’s what they say about the band’s latest track:
Coach Party released a teaser track from their upcoming album KILLJOY, out September 8. Despite the title, the track is a high-energy upbeat pop-rock anthem, with searing guitars and hard drums throughout, with its uplifting nature sharing the message that life is for living before breaking into a high-tempo drum and bass beat.
Lauran Hibberd – Honda Civic
Describing Lauran Hibberd’s latest track as “a true earworm with instant replay factor” the author clearly gets a kick out of the track. They explain,
Isle of Wight-born Lauran Hibberd brings back the iconic sounds noughties pop-punk back to life in her latest release, packed with searing guitars, hard drums and heaps of character as she takes down an eco-manic with tongue-in-cheek insults “so woke, dirt broke, get back in your Honda Civic” she proclaims, as outrageous as it is catchy, the track is a true earworn [sic] with instant replay factor.
