Anyone with an interest in orchards is invited to attend the Isle of Wight Orchard Group Meeting this coming Thursday.
It takes place at the Riverside Centre in Newport from 7.30pm.
The meeting will be fairly loose in structure with the following open for discussion.
- Recording the Island’s orchards and fruit and nut trees
- Understanding and appreciating the Island’s orchards and fruit and nut trees, for example with website
- Protecting the Island’s orchards and fruit and nut trees from threats
- Looking after fruit and nut trees to keep them healthy and productive
- Looking after wildlife in orchards
- Harvesting and sharing unused crops, for example at community apple pressing events
- Celebrating orchards and fruit and nut trees with events such as Apple Day
- Creating new community orchards
