Nat from Ryde Academy updates us on the Academy’s participation in Rock Challenge. Ed
The Ryde Academy Rock Challenge Team performed at Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 17 March along with other schools from the South Coast, including Christ the King and Sandown Bay Academy.
Students spent the day rehearsing and preparing make-up, hair and their set. In the evening all the students performed in front of an audience.

Awards galore
Ryde Academy won Awards of Excellence in Entertainment, Visual Enhancement, Costuming Character, Set Design and Function, Video Performance, Choreography, Concept, Drama, Stage Crew and Soundtrack.
In addition, they also won Spirit of Rock Challenge, where students from other schools nominate who they feel were the most supportive during the day.

One of the Academy’s 6th Form students, working as stage crew, so impressed the Rock Challenge Team that they have offered her a job as stage crew!

“The team was amazing! It was a long day and they worked incredibly hard. It was great to see all their efforts transformed into a fantastic performance. I was so impressed with all the schools on the day as they all supported each other.
“Congratulations to Christ the King on winning. It was great to see the Island so well represented. Everyone is really looking forward to the finals on 25 June 2016.”
