The White Triplets receive sailing award with OTW flash

Isle of Wight triplets win the British Yachting Awards Young Sailor of the Year Trophy

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club is always very proud of its members’ achievements and is thrilled to announce that 22 year-old identical triplets, Tom, Harry and Charlie White were not only nominated for the British Yachting Awards Young Sailor of the Year trophy, but they won it.

RVYC Commodore, Chris Rickman said,

“This is a totally outstanding achievement and we couldn’t be more delighted for them (and very proud mum, Angie!)”.

“The boys started sailing at RVYC as cadets and worked their way up through Laser racing and on to the Squib class in their boat, Kestrel.

“Their success is a reflection of what a thriving environment we have here at RVYC, where we encourage our younger members in particular to get out on the water and enjoy our sport. We’re also a very family-oriented – not only have we now got children of former cadets sailing, but grandchildren of members too!”

Cowes Week veterans
The triplets are veterans of Cowes Week, having first raced back in 2015. Their nomination for this award came after their recent success in this year’s Cowes Week in their Squib, Kestral, winning the overall Under 25 Team and Musto Young Skippers trophies, plus finishing a strong third place in the Squib class.

The British Yachting Awards event, sponsored by Sailing Today and Yachts and Yachting, and hosted by professional sailor, Hannah Diamond, took place on Monday at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge.

White: We keep our competitive and team spirits alive through sport
Harry said,

“Sailing has very much brought us three all together as we keep our competitive and team spirits alive through sport.

“Furthermore, our experiences have allowed us to give back to our friends and the club who have such a profound positive impact on our lives and I think this nomination embodies that sense of community and achievement.”

Thanks for the support
He added,

“Without the support from our friends at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club over the years we would never have been in this situation.

“We would like to thank all those who have always shown us tremendous support and thank everyone who voted for us.”
