Community dance class with people of all ages dancing

Isle of Wight’s Community Dance to host an intergenerational Dance Sharing event

Community Dance, Isle of Wight is looking forward to hosting a Dance Sharing at Quay Arts on Saturday 9th November at 3.30pm.

Generate Dance will be an uplifting and inspiring afternoon of dance performances showcasing mature dance companies, Samphire from the Isle of Wight, and NTR dancers from Portsmouth, as well as young performing arts students from the Isle of Wight College.

Hainsworth: From 16 to 82-years-old
Michelle Hainsworth, director of Samphire and former lecturer at the Isle of Wight College, says,

“I am delighted to offer this opportunity to young and older dancers to share their talents and their love of dance.

“I recently taught a workshop to Samphire and the performing arts students.

“The youngest participant was 16 and the eldest 82. It was a lovely experience watching people making connections and dancing and creating together.”

In fact she hopes Generate Dance will be the first of more collaborations, and money raised from this performance will go towards another community dance project.
