On Wednesday, 6th November 2024, the annual Regain Gala Dinner will be held with hosts Lord Ivar Mountbatten and Classic FM presenter, Alexander Armstrong, leading the evening’s events.
This fundraising gala is dedicated to supporting individuals living with tetraplegia, a form of paralysis affecting all four limbs.
Luke Orton
One of the night’s most anticipated stories is that of Isle of Wight resident Luke Orton, whose life was forever changed by a severe injury at the Isle of Wight Rugby Sevens tournament in Ryde.
Luke sustained a neck fracture and spinal cord injury that left him paralysed from the chest down. Following extensive treatment and rehabilitation, Luke is now awaiting adaptations to his family home, allowing him to finally leave the hospital and return to his loved ones.
Supporting a meaningful cause
The Regain Gala Dinner aims to raise £100,000 for the charity’s various projects to support people with tetraplegia. Organisers expect a diverse crowd, from business leaders and philanthropists to beneficiaries of Regain’s efforts.
Among the attendees is David Walker, Managing Director of A2K Leisure, the company that owns the Albion Hotel on the Isle of Wight.
Frampton: A chance to make a real difference
Calum Frampton, Charity Director, shares the significance of the evening,
“The Regain Gala Dinner is not only an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening, but also a chance to make a real difference, helping people with tetraplegia to live more fulfilled lives.”
Opportunities to contribute
For those unable to attend in person but interested in supporting Luke Orton and the Regain charity, there are additional ways to contribute.
An online prize draw offers tickets at £10 each, and a silent auction will feature an array of luxurious items.
The funds raised through these efforts will directly support Luke’s transition home, with £20,000 set aside to make necessary adaptations to his family residence, allowing him to finally reunite with his family.
