Pan Together is the Isle of Wight charity which exists to support and provide a community hub for the residents of East Newport.
In June 2022, as part of her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, it received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK and the organisational equivalent of an MBE.
Yesterday (3rd May 2023), one of Pan Together’s longest-serving volunteers, Wendy Parsons, was delighted to attend His Majesty’s Coronation Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
As well as being an invaluable volunteer, Wendy is the supervisor of the charity’s community cafe – which is open each Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 3pm at Downside Community Centre, Furrlongs, Newport, PO30 2AX.
Wendy said,
“I was absolutely thrilled to be able to attend this very special day and to represent Pan Together at such an amazing event. I’ll remember it forever”.
Rachel Thomson, Pan Together’s Community Centre Manager, said,
“Once again, we’re over the moon to receive this royal recognition for the charity’s vital and direct work to support vulnerable local people when the cost of living crisis is biting so hard for so many.
“As a Pan resident, Wendy was a great representative for the charity and we’re so pleased that she had a lovely day.”
