Sandown residents charged: Court dates set following High Street violence

Two men have been charged following an investigation into an incident in Sandown.

Police were called shortly after 11pm on Friday 28th April to reports of two men fighting on the High Street, with one of the men reportedly sustaining facial injuries.

Officers attended and seized an imitation firearm and a kitchen knife.

Two men charged
Following enquiries, a 58-year-old, of Yaverland Road in Sandown, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 40-year-old, of York Road in Sandown, was charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place, and possession of a knife in a public place.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1st May.

Bailed with conditions
At the hearing, the 58-year-old was bailed with conditions to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 5th June.

The 40-year-old was bailed with conditions to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 26th May.
