An exclusive Isle of Wight retreat and wedding venue is looking to sell the alcohol it makes on the banks of the River Medina.
The Pinkmead Estate and Vineyard — just up from Vestas and opposite the Folly Inn — is seeking permission from the Isle of Wight Council to sell alcohol.
Small pop-up events
The estate is privately rented throughout the year. but owners, R. O’Dell Holdings, has said it would like to host small pop-up events like weddings and other ceremonies, supper clubs and garden parties and be able to serve its guests alcohol.
It has also said it would like to offer products from its own four-acre vineyard for sale onsite and on its website.
If the licence is approved it could sell alcohol from 8am to midnight, Monday to Sunday.
Staff training
To abide by licensing rules, the company said it will undertake staff training, implement a Challenge 25 policy and restrict the sale of alcohol to residents staying at Pinkmead, their guests or those attending functions.
Any person who is not staying at the estate will have to leave by half past midnight, the company said.
No potential for public nuisance
It also said no person would be allowed to leave the licensed area with any open drinking vessel or glass bottle, regardless of whether it is empty or not.
In its application, the company has said it does not envisage any potential for public nuisance due to the venue’s remote location.
Retreat and vineyard
The 24-acre estate has been in the hands of R. O’Dell Holdings since 2017 and has expanded into a retreat and vineyard.
According to its application, the company would like the licence to start on 26th October.
