Andrew Turner MP has agreed to attend the East Cowes Heritage Centre on Friday 2nd May at 1pm to discuss the petition launched by the Friends of Frank James calling on the Isle of Wight Council to issue an Urgent Repairs Notice on the owners of the former Frank James Memorial Hospital in East Cowes.
2,500 target
The Friends have collected over 1,000 signatures in a matter of a few days and have now signalled their intention to run the petition until 2,500 have been collected.
Mr Turner has agreed to present it to the leader of the Isle of Wight Council, Ian Stephens.
Friend of Frank James, Ian Pickard, said
“Andrew Turner has been a long standing supporter of the Friends. Like many Isle of Wight residents he’s concerned at the Council’s seeming inability to protect Island heritage and deliver a credible solution for Frank James.”
Renewed push to raise awareness
Mr Pickard confirmed this was part of a renewed push by The Friends to focus attention on the continuing plight of the former Frank James Memorial hospital, a nationally important listed building that has remained empty and abandoned since being sold by the NHS in 2002.
The Friends of Frank James are an East Cowes based community organisation committed to saving the former Frank James Memorial Hospital, a Grade II listed Victorian building and cherished local landmark. Find out more by visiting the Friends of Frank James Website.
