It’s The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt. 3

In Pt 2 of It’s The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas, Rosemary showed us how to use food to woo your love. Now it’s time to get down and dirty. Someone pass me the smelling salts please (or should that be bath salts?). Ed

Spending money on a spa treatment isn’t necessary when you can create that same relaxing atmosphere at home.

Clear up the lounge, bedroom and bathroom, and get some of those tealights out (you can buy a bagful for about £3 from near enough any supermarket), and dig out that bottle of bubble bath from the bathroom cabinet and turn the bathroom into an oasis of candlelight and pleasant smells.

Try the Ultimate Bubble Bath

And while you’re at it, get in the bath with your partner!

Sharing a bath, although a little squashed is a lot of fun, and you can use that time alone together to talk and relax and get yourselves ‘in the mood’.

Pay attention to each others thoughts and bodies. Don’t plan to do anything after the bath other than head to the bedroom. You can thank me later.

Just be sure to blow all the candles out – having the house go up in flames is not a way to end the evening.

Don’t have a bathtub? Try a shower together!

Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt. 3Even better, if you have some lavender or rose aromatherapy oil in the house, put a couple of drops on a flannel (or clean tea towel) and lie it on the floor of the shower. The steam from the shower will allow the scent to rise and help add to the romantic mood.

Lovers Massage
No spare cash to buy expensive oils for a massage? Try baby oil!

Pay particular attention to each other’s shoulders, neck and back – this time of year is tense (especially this year with all the financial stress) and as more and more of us work on computers, the shoulder area is usually where muscle knots tend to stack up.

Here’s how to make your own edible oil!

As with any oil-based product, should you intend to have a more ‘intimate’ massage, I would recommend using a water-based massage product, which Durex do.

Believe it or not, kissing is one of the most erotic things you can do with your partner.

And when was the last time the two of you had a REALLY GOOD KISS?

Although none of us have the time to break the world record of 31 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds, how about spending a good 10 minutes on the sofa having a really good snog?

No fumbling, just kissing each other.

Not only do people say that this takes them to a heightened sense of awareness, but apparently it’s also good for your teeth, amongst other health benefits!

Need help convincing your partner? Tell them that it will help burn off those chocolate-consumed calories (yes really!)
