It’s The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt.2

Rosemary continue with her credit crunch busting ideas for Valentine’s Day. It’s tomorrow folks, so if you’re the kind of person who forgets to tell your loved one how much they mean to you, this is the time to do it. Ed

It's The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt.2Next up …. something that won’t cost you a penny but will be worth it’s weight in gold.

Do Something!
What most people want more than anything in the world?

To have something nice done for them without having to ask.

How many times have you wanted to hear the words “no don’t get up, I’ll do that for you. You just relax”?

Why not be the first up, and make your partner breakfast in bed, or just bring them a cup of tea? Even just offering to make the dinner, even if it’s a microwave meal in front of the telly is a fantastic way of letting them know you care.

It doesn’t have to be food or drink either – if you’re not the one who washes the car, or does the laundry, do that, and make sure your partner knows you’re doing it “because you love them”.

It's The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt.2(Re)make Chocolate
If you can’t afford a romantic night out, how about doing an activity that means you have to work as a team?

My favourite idea is making chocolate together! Ok, so buying cocoa beans and roasting them and and and… gets a bit much, and takes too long, so how about going out and getting a couple of cheap bags or boxes of chocolate and carefully melting them down and putting them in moulds to set?

Voila, your own chocolates, that you made together, with love.

You can always mix it up with some melted white chocolate, spread it in a thin(nish) layer over a piece of greaseproof paper, and create a cool marble effect too! (Delia shows you how)

Get Fruit
Don’t like/can’t have chocolate? What about fruit?

It's The Thought That Counts! Credit Crunch Valentines Ideas Pt.2You can now order fruit displays in place of flower displays online, but what about making your own?

Buy some fruit that you and your partner like and create your own fruity arrangement with wooden skewers and cocktail sticks! (Need inspiration? Try Edible Arrangements).

You can always melt down any of that left-over chocolate for a dip with the fruit too! Healthy and yummy, and always appreciated!

If fruit is a little too innocent for you, what about making marzipan fruit?

Look out for Pt.3, coming up later today where Rosemary gets dirty. Not for the faint hearted (or is it?) Ed
