The Isle of Wight council’s overspend looks like it’s been reduced considerably from previous projections.
In an amazing turn around from the previously predicted £3.5m over-spend that was originally first predicted on 19.Nov 2009, Cllr Bingham announced at last night’s Cabinet meeting that it looked from the raw numbers that the Isle of Wight council’s overspend for the year 09/10 would actually be £300,000.
Cllr Bingham commented in the meeting that the over-spend reduction had been achieved by, “Management action and good work of financial staff.”
We caught up with him afterwards to ask how such a large reduction had been made. He told VB, “By questioning every expenditure,” He continued, “It puts us in a much better position for the next year, not starting £3.5m down.”
