Quay Arts are thrilled to announce details about the forthcoming comedy performance by Jan Ravens – A Funny Look At Impressions.
As one of the UK’s foremost impressionists, Ravens takes the experience of her distinguished career and distils it into a revelatory evening of entertainment.
This is a unique glimpse into the fascinating and hilarious world of satirical impersonation.
Ravens’ starring roles include all the women in Dead Ringers (seven series, six on radio, Radio 4 and BBC2); Alistair McGowan’s Big Impressions (three series) and the legendary Spitting Image.
Following its 2008 premiere at The National Theatre as a Platform performance, an extended version of the show is at / in insert venue / town on insert date.
Through the performance, Ravens reveals how she creates her remarkable takes on politicians and celebrities, treating her audience to many of her most renowned impressions along the way.
From Anne Robinson and Nigella Lawson to Ann Widdecombe and Her Majesty The Queen, plus of course her unforgettable takes on Fiona Bruce and Kirsty Wark.
No woman in the public eye is safe from Ravens’ razor sharp observation and unique satirical wit.

Jan Ravens was the first female President of Cambridge University Footlights and as director of their revue The Cellar Tapes won the first Perrier Award.
Background
She is best known for playing all the women in Dead Ringers (seven series, ten on radio, Radio 4 and BBC2); Alistair McGowan’s Big Impression (three series) and the legendary Spitting Image.
She has also appeared on Question Time, performed in a Rock ‘n’ Roll show with Pete Townshend, danced with Anton du Beke in Strictly Come Dancing, and she won Celebrity Mastermind, 2008. Theatre work includes After Easter and Pentecost (RSC); and The Relapse (Chichester Festival Theatre). Jan is a patron of Changing Faces, a charity that supports people with facial disfigurements, and is also an ambassador for Action Aid.
Director Richard Hurst’s credits include West End hit Potted Potter (now on international tour). As a writer and director his credits include Potted Pirates (Edinburgh Festival 2008 and national tours); Bill Hicks: Slight Return (National and international tours, Edinburgh Festival, West End).
