Isle of Wight writer and actor, Joe Bone (well-known for his fantastic Bruce Bane series), has popped up in the industry press this week after it was revealed that a film he has co-written is being presented to the American Film Market (AFM) in Santa Monica tomorrow.
Psychological thriller
Keepers is a psychological thriller about three lighthouse keepers off the coast of Scotland. It has already secured funding from Cross Creek Pictures and will begin filming in early 2017.
The film was co-written by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Celyn Jones (who Joe met when starring in Castles in the Sky) and will be directed by award-winning Danish director Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing).
Isle of Wight casting director
There’s another Isle of Wight connection to the film as it’s being cast and co-produced by Reg Poerscout-Edgerton (Sherlock Holmes, RocknRolla).
Among those starring in the film will be Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan and Joe Alwyn.
Will be terrifying to watch
Kristoffer told the Hollywood Reporter,
“Keepers was great to read, will be an adventure to make and terrifying to watch!”
Celyn and Joe said,
“Our objective was to create a unique script that Kristoffer wanted to direct, great actors wanted to perform and a wide audience will want to see. We also wanted to say something poignant about trust and the frailty of the human condition.
“Keepers has all the shock and awe life can offer, wrapped up in a film that we hope will cling to its audience well after the last reel stops turning in the cinema.”
We can’t wait to see the film when it’s released.
