Thursday afternoon saw hundreds of people turn out in Newport for the funeral of teenager Joe Ellis.
The thirteen year old was diagnosed with mediastinum large B cell lymphoma last year and had started a pioneering treatment, part-funded by Southampton Hospital.
£100,000 appeal to continue treatment
A campaign was launched at the beginning of June to raise £100,000, a sum needed for the thirteen remaining treatments, but sadly Joe passed away on 30th June, before completing the treatment.
Joe’s family asked for the campaign to continue so the £100,000 target could be achieved and then used to help other Island children with Cancer.
Hundreds gathered to say goodbye
The County Press posted this short video of Joe arriving at Newport Minster yesterday afternoon, by steam power, something Joe was very enthusiastic about.
