Joe Robertson MP invites East Wight’s young artists to design Christmas card

Isle of Wight East Conservative MP, Joe Robertson, has launched a competition to design his 2024 Christmas card. All primary school aged children attending school in the Isle of Wight East constituency are invited to enter, plus those being home educated and living in the East Wight.

Joe launched his competition at Brading Primary School this week and said he wanted to see lots of colours and creativity. He said he would be sending hundreds of cards this Christmas, both locally and in Westminster, and he wanted to showcase local children’s artistic talent.

Robertson: Draw or paint whatever makes you feel Christmassy
Joe told Brading’s Year 6 pupils,

“This is the time to get creative and think about what you most enjoy about Christmas.

“Draw or paint whatever makes you feel Christmassy and you think people would like to get in the post!”

Robertson: My office will judge and choose three winning designs
The MP shared a variety of cards he received last year to stimulate thoughts and conversation, and went on to say afterwards,

“I was impressed with some of the ideas that were discussed, like Father Christmas landing on Big Ben!

“My office will judge and choose three winning designs from different age groups which will be turned into three different versions of my official MP Christmas cards for 2024.

“Any medium can be used, like pencil, felt tip, crayon, or even collage – provided it can be scanned and turned into a landscape or portrait Christmas card.”

How to enter
Designs should be completed on A5, A4 or A3 paper or card and sent to the MP’s constituency office with the child’s name, age, school year, and school name or home address if home educated.

For children attending school, Joe asks that schools collate the artwork and send them to the MP’s office:

Office of Joe Robertson MP, Shanklin Conservative Club, 6 Palmerston Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 6AU.

The closing date is Sunday 10th November.
