UPDATE: Due to logistics this event has had to be postponed. Details of an alternative event later in the year will follow once confirmed.
We love the sound of this charity challenge taking place in May.
Ability Dogs 4 Young People (AD4YP), The Kite Academy and Sussex Beach Holiday Village are organising a sponsored kitesurf crossing from Ryde on the Isle of Wight to Bracklesham Bay, near East Wittering, West Sussex.
Organisers are looking for volunteers to take part, and are keen to recruit around 50—100 kite surfers to take up the challenge.
Carole from AD4YP tells us that weather permitting, the kitesurfers will meet at Ryde beach on the morning of Saturday 18th May and kitesurf downwind to the beach in front of Sussex Beach Holiday Village in Bracklesham Bay.
After the crossing there will be a celebratory BBQ at Sussex Beach Holiday Village.
How to get involved
To take part, you must be a competent kitesurfer (IKO Level 3 or above), have your own equipment and insurance, and able to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
There will be assistance boats supporting the event. Please let Carole (email below) know if you are able to offer your services with a RIB or boat.
