Earlier today at the press launch of JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island, we chatted to various bods involved in the historic race.
One guy who seemed to know a thing or two about sailing was Richard Simmonds, the chap who compered the launch.
We didn’t realise until afterwards quite how much he knew about sailing, but soon discovered that he’d presented for the BBC during the Beijing Olympics and has been heavily involved in many other nautical events.
It was his presenting style that attracted us to him, so we sought him out after the official presentation.
His knowledge and sense of humour made it all worthwhile.
