We hear today that one of your councillors, Julian Whittaker has just resigned from the council and will be standing down immediately.
Deputy Leader of the council, Councillor Patrick Joyce said, “Councillor Julian Whittaker, has resigned from his post as an elected member of Isle of Wight Council in order to concentrate on his professional career. The councillor, who was elected to represent the North Newport area, has for many years combined his civic duties with his professional career. He has now decided to focus on his career and is stepping down from his civic duties with immediate effect. The council will shortly be advertising the vacancy for his post and will be organising a by-election in the local area.”
