Many of you in Ventnor will already know of Jack Phoenix, but for those of you who don’t, he’s a man with many feathers in his cap (well, hat actually) – as he is not only a writer, producer, screenwriter, director, but also a very talented musician and composer.
What you might not know about Jack is that for the last couple of years, amongst other things, he has been working on a project named: Ken Campbell’s Meaning of Life – A Letter to Robert Anton Wilson.
It’s a gonzo, no-budget film of veteran comedian Ken Campbell’s latest one-man show – a special performance given for Robert Anton Wilson, the writer and philosopher, known for such works as The Illuminatus! and Schrodinger’s Cat Trilogies.
The film is on a DVD double disc set. The first disc being Ken’s fantastic performance and the second featuring Jack’s interviews with Robert Anton Wilson himself, his friend Scott Apel, and a third vintage interview of Oberto Airaudi by Ken Campbell.
With the help of good friend, LeoN the performance was filmed and fellow island film-maker, John Cattle, did the editing honours. To celebrate the launch of the film on DVD, Ken will be doing a live performance of the show in a couple of weeks time at Quay Arts in Newport.
Get your tickets (£10) from Quay Arts before the sell out. Show starts at 8pm, Friday 15th September.
