King Charles features red squirrels on new 2p coin to help conservation

The trustees of the Red Squirrel Survival Trust (a national charity) are delighted to announce that His Majesty King Charles III will continue as patron of the charity, a position he has held  as The Prince of Wales, since launching the trust in 2009.

His Majesty’s delight in red squirrels is well known and he reflected this by depicting the animal on the reverse side of his new King Charles 2p coin.

Dual aims
His Majesty’s continued support of the RSST will play a vital role in highlighting its work and that of the national team of supporting volunteers.

The dual aims are to protect and help the UK red squirrel population to grow and also to protect native British trees, woodlands and forests upon which the red squirrels depend.

Kinnoull:The enormous benefits of this cannot be over emphasised
Lord Kinnoull, chairman of the board of trustees of the Red Squirrel Survival Trust, said,

“We are thrilled and delighted that His Royal Highness is continuing his support as Patron of our charity.

“The enormous benefits of this cannot be over emphasised.”
