Knock Back By A Year For Proposed Academies

Two schools are recommended to be changed into Academies in the report by the IWC officers – Ryde and Sandown.

Knock Back By A Year For Proposed AcademiesThe IWC officers are recommending that the closure of those schools are knocked back a year from 2010 to 2011, as will be the opening date of their academy replacements.

Quite why this is, isn’t apparent. Perhaps we’re not important enough to know?

In the officers words …

96. On the award of any secondary school with Academy status that recommendation is made to Cabinet that the statutory notices to establish the new secondary schools are modified to show the opening date of each school to be the 1 September 2011 rather than the published date of 1 September 2010. If this recommendation is made the statutory notices to close each High School must also be modified to show a date for closure of 31 August 2011 from one of the 31 August 2010.
