A property on Leeson Road, just metres from the catastrophic landslide that took place in December 2023, is up for sale by auction with a starting bid of £10 and a reserve of £1.
Several residents have had to abandon their homes due to one of the largest landslides recorded on the South Coast of England.
Localised affect
It’s worth pointing out that most of the homes on Leeson Road have NOT been impacted structurally etc by the landslide. Those affected are in the close vicinity of the slip.
The road was closed from December 2023, until the start of the school summer holidays, but is due to close again from Sunday night (8th September) for another eight to ten weeks.
“Significantly affected by a landslip”
Details on the RightMove website state that sale of the vacant three-bedroom semi-detached house is for cash buyers only, and requires refurbishment.
It adds:
The property has been significantly affected by a landslip suffering structural damage and losing a proportion of its garden.
Internal viewings will not be possible because the property has been deemed unsafe by the local authority.
“It remains the intention of Island Roads and the Isle of Wight Council to re-open Leeson Road as soon as it safe to do so.
The auctioneers have not inspected the property.
