Zig Zag Road in Ventnor was closed on Friday night, after Isle of Wight council reported that another ‘landslip’ had occurred in the town.
The authorities explained that land behind a property on the bend of ZigZag Road and Bellevue Road had slipped, which led to the road being closed by police, who were using their torches to warn motorists of the closure (on a very chilly evening).
Landfall known and works in progress
By the following day (Saturday), it was explained that the landfall had occurred in January and that surveys have been conducted and engineering designs for repair are already in progress.
However, on Friday night, given it was dark, proper investigations into the amount of movement wasn’t possible – hence the current lack of good quality photo for this article.
Diversions
Ironically ZigZag Road was being used as a diversion, after a rockfall caused a road to be closed on Thursday.
