Latest Isle of Wight Covid figures, including tests, hospital admissions, deaths and vaccinations

There have been 152 new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests on the Isle of Wight today (Friday 28th Jan 2022).

This takes the seven-day total to 1,021 – a rate per 100,000 population of 724.

The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 26,486 – a rate per 100,000 population of 18,784.

Deaths
As of 14th January, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 368.

As of 28th January 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 337.

Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 25th January 2022 there were 24 patients being treated for Covid-19 at St Mary’s hospital.

The Government dashboard also reports none of this patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.

Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 309,744.

The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 27th January 2022 was 113,307.

The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 27th January 2022 was 107,430.

The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 27th January 2022 was 89,007.

Only get tested on the Island
Residents are reminded that tests are available for those with Covid-19 symptoms and to ensure you are tested on the Isle of Wight.

The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
  • Most people with Coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms. Book via the NHS.

Delta variant
Symptoms of the Delta variant have been described in the ZOE Symptom App as:

  • Headaches
  • Sore throats
  • Runny noses
  • Fever

Omicron variant
Symptoms of the Omicron variant have been described in the ZOE Symptom App as:

  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Fatigue (mild or severe)
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat
